So this is the first of what could be many posts, which I don't mind, since it gives me an excuse to listen to them again...

Baby Plays Around (about 7.00 minutes in)	Elvis Costello	His wife's song, not his, and full of the ache of being in a relationship with an unfaithful partner. Cheery stuff, plainly sung.
Babylon's Burning	The Ruts	First time I heard "Babylon" used in the Rastafarian sense, and I knew what they meant right away. Did I tell you about driving through Brixton the morning after the riots?
Back In the High Life Again	Warren Zevon	How to pick up a cover and make it your own, and make it the saddest song about knowing that although you may be in recovery, one day you'll pick up a drink again.
Ballad Of The English Rose	Martin Stephenson	Not the best of recordings, but picks up most of Martin's cheerful reading of his protest song against Thatcher and Red Wedge, which is also about the bardic tradition, and in this context about gardening. God bless you Martin.
