Back on the train...
I like commuting by train far more than driving. I've whined about what makes it difficult for me before, but I'll do it again. Basically it means I need to be up by 6.30 and out by 7. If I drive, I can leave 30 minutes later. And at night, I can be home about 45 minutes to an hour earlier if I take the car.
On the other hand, on the train I have music, my laptop, and a pink sunrise revealing frosted fields. Yesterday I struggled through fog on the motorway, and sat in too many tailbacks.
So back on the train, and I'll try to leave before 6 tonight to make up for the extra journey time.
Various stuff:
Work - I've been told that my current contract will end at the end of March. That's 15 months, so a pretty good run. I've got to do some thinking now, about whether I want to roll the experience I've gained into doing more of the same, or if I want to branch out again. I think desktop virtualisation on a large scale will be pretty popular with companies looking to save money on IT, so I might be quite marketable just now. I want to work nearer home, though. Let's see what comes.
Tech - I bought, on a whim, these headphones: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00001P4ZH. They were only £17, but I'm really enjoying the sound. They have me playing stuff I haven't listened to for years, because I'm hearing new subtleties in the recording. This morning it's Shawn Colvin and her covers album, Covers Girl.
TV - In one word, Buffython. I got the boxed set at Christmas, and am now in the middle of Season Three. So far only one terrible episode (Go Fish) and I'm surprised by how much I remember from single viewings, up to 15 years ago.
At the moment, Shawn is singing "Windows To The World" and I'm looking out on windmills. Which is a good place to stop, so I will.
