"...were it not that I had bad dreams."

A very disturbed night's sleep.

Possibly because I had about half a bottle of wine with dinner - not much, but more that I've had in a while - my brain seized on a picture I saw on Facebook just before I went to sleep, and ran with it.

The dream came in the last phase of sleep, and left me pretty groggy when I woke up at 6.30. The closest thing I can imagine to compare it to are the "drinking dreams" sober alcoholic friends of mine have described. I woke up realising that I had made a terrible mistake that I couldn't undo - the understanding that it had only happened in a dream came slowly, and the despair shifted even more slowly.

A warning, I guess, from my sub-conscious, not to indulge in old, dangerous behaviours.

On another, lighter, note it looks like I'll be travelling up to Inverness again for work. Only a couple of days a week, this time, but it's a place I liked, working with people I respect. Of course, it means taking the A9 twice a week, or planning my trip around the train, but it can't be much worse then the 40 mile commute from Glasgow to Edinburgh, which took almost two hours this morning.
