Too many BPM!
Oct. 19th, 2005 05:33 pmMixed results with the new Gym playlist last night - great warm up from Iggy Popp, up to 120 no problem, heart-rate continued to rise smoothly through Born Slippy - and wouldn't stop! My maximum rate for the cardiovascular stuff is 150, and by 8 or so minutes in I was up at 158 - slowed down as much as I could, but Firestarter put me through 150 again in minutes.
Strangely enough, surprise victor of the evening was Bad To the Bone, by the frankly scuzzy George Thorogood, and "When Love Came To Town" by BB King and U2. Something about that blue-collar blues plumped me firmly into 130 bpm territory, and kept me there as regularly as a John Lee Hooker guitar line.
I tried out some more blues this morning, and, well, looks like I'll be hearing a whole lot more of Uncle George - and with non-PC songs like "You Talk To Much" and "If You Don't Start Drinking, I'm Going To Leave" to look forward to, I'll have a big smile on my face.
Gym Summary: 45 minutes last night, 30 this morning, and still enjoying it.

Date: 2005-10-20 10:09 am (UTC)I also have to shamefacedly-admit that "Blue Collar" was not the Guess Who as I suggested, but in fact Bachman Turner Overdrive. I will *attempt* to blame the error on the fact that the only one of them I ever met was a member of both bands.
