Alive! He's Alive!
Thanks for all the expressions of concern on Friday - makes me feel quite valued.
I did survive, but the lurgi more or less wiped out my weekend. I slept in 'till around 11 on Saturday, and then decided that going outdoors was an unnecessary risk. Which was good news for the Newton Tandoori.
In other news, I watched Batman Begins, which was far from being sucky (although the best bits were those they kept from Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One" and the worst where they diverged from it (why was Jim Gordon such a wimp? Is it really true that in a film script you have to give the Star EVERYTHING?).
Merlin got a nice romp in the park on Sunday, and I recorded two particularly fine victories over the virtual chessboard.
I also generally mulled over my November novel plot, and the last few pieces clicked in while I was soaking in the bath last night - stuff about magic weapons, and the intelligent gene, and von Neumann machines. I now have an opening, an ending, and the mechanism for getting between them. I wonder what will happen along the way?
Unlike my very good composite friend http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=itchyfrankie I probably won't be posting too much as I go, apart from word count and the occasional manic howl of complaint. This isn't because I hate feedback (I do, of course, since you are all sadistic swine who lack my genius) but because I'm used to a format where completed manuscripts get critiqued (by sadistic swine who etc.), not works in progress.
We'll see how it goes...

Must say I am pretty much with you on the posting of WIP idea. The idea of endless rounds of criticism... *shiver*

It might be that there's a per-post restriction, but so long as you break it up into slightly smaller chunks, I reckon you'll be fine.

Ah well, you only have yourself to blame...

Totally agree about not wanting criticism *while* writing. I'd never finish anything...
