MOT Passed, but the engine needs looked at..

I got the results of my diabetic check up this morning. My diabetes management test shows I've climbed since last year, but I'm still in the satisfactory zone. This rise almost exactly matches my weight gain from 94 - 100 kg. I don't need a house to fall on me...

I've been a bit loose about my diet and alcohol consumption, but not massively, so the one big change in my lifestyle in the last year has been less time spent in the gym. I'm prepared to give the new place 3 months, and see how much my weight comes down, and if that doesn't work then I'll be a bit stricter on the diet and alcohol front.

I'm much healthier on the Stress and Depression questionnaire they give we chronicly ill types, which is a good thing, my BP is within normal range, and my cholesterol readings are OK.

I asked a couple of questions around the BP medication I'm taking and the long-term prognosis for type-2. The upshot of the first is that I'll come back in three months, and if my weight is down we'll look at getting me off part of the medication. On the second, if I keep that HbA1c reading under 7.4 I could be one of the 80 year olds they have coming along to the clinic.

So expect some more Gym updates, and the occasional adventure with bannananananas.

There shall be more vegetables in your future. Oh yes. Especially if it means you get to drop some of your meds!

I thought Scots were allergic to vegetables, except potatoes, preferably deep fried

They are. Unfortunately, he got himself a German girlfriend. I've promised no asparagus and no cabbage, but that's as far as I'm willing to go. ;)

"and no cabbage"

What kind of Kraut are you!

The kind that grew up in Ireland! :P

The funny thing about that is that the Irish in the northeastern US make a big deal about eating cabbage on St. Patrick's Day.

(Corned beef with it, as well. My mother's explanation is that that was what they could afford to eat in the US when they were coming over in the 1840s and 1850s, so there's a weird nostalgia thing going on.)

My own Scottish/Irish family went for cabbage and ribs in a big way - it was one of the Sunday dinner treats.

OMG YES!

I tend to say I believe in recycling - I eat all my vegetables recycled through animals. ;)

Nice - but I don't need the encouragement :)

It's nice to see someone else who spends their time thinking about HbA1c levels, though in my case not mine!

I could probably do with spending more time thinking of them (and thank you so much for the icon) but I do a reasonably good job of not thinking of them at all for months on end...

You learn something new about folk every day. I suspect you'll make that 80 and then some. Good luck with the gym stuff - I will be undertaking a similar endeavour when we get home. My past history does not lead me to feel confident about my success. :D

I actually enjoy the gym, and I really enjoy the consequences. the hard thing is dragging myself out of bed in the morning to do it.
