Staying at Home is the New Going Away

Our plans for heading away for a boozy weekend with friends were torpedoed when we found out that the hotel was not Merlin friendly, so yah boo sucks to them(ETA: That's yah boo sucks to the hotel, not the friends BTW). We haven't heard back from those friends, so it may be that they've all succumbed to alcohol poisoning. Ah well, them's the risks you take.

Instead we stayed in, and [livejournal.com profile] unblinkered  plied me with wonderful food. Friday night we watched 3 or 4 episodes of 24 season 4, leaving us with a mere two hours to knock off last night. I then slept for 10 straight hours, which may give you the idea that I needed the sleep.

On Saturday we tackled the washing mountain, transferring it into foothills which we've been feeding to the washer and then the drier. The flat's starting to look habitable again...

We finished season (or Day) 4 last night. Somehow I'm not quite so sanguine about the torture scenes this time through...

I now know why Cinemas are quiet on Saturday nights these days - they're mobbed on Sunday afternoon. We did manage to get in to see Burn Before Reading at the Grosvenor, but we were in the front row. I thoroughly enjoyed it - the Coen Brothers have a sense of humour that can be hit or miss for some, but I usually go right along with them, and this was no exception.

Before heading back to the flat we hit Fopp on Byres Road. I seem to have acquired another season of 24, and the second season of Hereos. On to disk 2, now. Must remember to go to bed at some point...

Quel coincidence! me & [livejournal.com profile] nlogax went to see Burn Before Reading too! I thought it was an excellent film!

It was one of those films were everyone seemed to have good parts, and it was a lot funnier than it should have been. I mean, I shouldn't have laughed at John Malkovitch with a hatchet, for one thing...

Sounds like a thoroughly excellent way to spend the weekend, and I'm sure Merlin would agree.

Glad you got some sleep. I'm off to face my own washing mountain. :)

Merlin got lots of company but not enough walking. Will have to make it up to him next weekend...
