The Commes de Garcons event at H&M was a bit disappointing - they got the stock in on Thursday, and by this morning all they had left was a rack of shirts - I bought one as a consolation prize (well, you can never have too many white shirts), and an X-Men t-shirt. Or, to be completely nerdy for a moment, a t-shirt with the last page of X-Men 113 blown up on it. You know, the surprise revelation that Magneto is the bad guy. Spookily, I'd just been thinking of that issue this morning, deciding that it was probably when superhero comics got good, at that very point (Wolverine's chain breaking, The Beast using his head, Scott's "Lord no, we're nowhere near ready" when he realises who his new team are up against. John Byrne's understated art, Terry Austin's clean inking. Lovely.)

Anyway. I wandered off in the direction of Ted Baker's, but got sidetracked into Austin Read when I saw they were having a 25% off everything sale. I've bought lots of suits from there in the past, but usually at the sober, work end, and I was in the mood for something a bit more expressive. Just by the door they had a rack of their "Signature" range, which are nicely cut in Italian fabric. I've always liked them, but, as I say, they're a bit sober. Except they had a lovely, tweed-like light brown suit in my size. Still, I've always thought they were a bit over-priced at £500. Except these were last season's, and were reduced to £200. With another 25% off. So I have a suit I really like for £150 - I think that counts as a win.

After a bit of wandering around John Lewis (I spotted a wonderful Ted Baker coat, but it'll have to wait for the sales) we headed back to the West End, where I dropped off my new trousers at the 1-hour alterations place to have them shortened, and then off to Otago Framers with a lot of prints - [livejournal.com profile] unblinkered 's amazing Hunderdwasser print, my two Kozy'n'Dan prints, both Todd Klein one pagers, and a sample of the nine Fyne Art Show posters. The tiny shop was busy so we got asked to wait in the bookshop next door. How could they tell? While unblinkered chatted to the owner about playing Baroque, I picked up some books. Um, less than a dozen books. One less.

Then one of the framers came to fetch us, and we went back to their studio to talk about the prints. We left an hour later, unblinkered practically bouncing along the road with excitement. Good, good people. Back along Great Western Road to the tailors, via Lupe Pinto's for fajita making, and then a butchers for some rather nice looking rump steak, and then back to the sofa, where I've flopped with great relief.

I'm completely knackered, and fit for nothing much more than watching DVDs and eating tonight, but it's been a good Glasgow Saturday so far...
