Porch Posht

Perched in the porch, watching the world go by. It's not as warm as I'd like it to be (probably about 7 or 8 degrees down on yesterday) and the window is open to let out wet dog smells. The cherry blossom is out, though, and I'm making the best of it since we won't be back up for a couple of weeks.

We will be up quite a bit in May, though, since there's two fun weekend things on: The Loch Fyne Food fair, in a fortnight, and The Spirit of the West, the week after that. I'll be doing stuff on the Saturday of the food fair, so we'll probably come up on Saturday night, and then indulge in foodery on the Sunday. The following weekend we have ticket to The Handsome Family, so we'll leave the Spirit of the West thingy about 5 on Sunday.

I'm also thinking about something up here for the Solstice, which falls on a weekend this year.

So, anyone want to come play?

The idea of spending the solstice in a wild Scottish setting makes my heart go pitter pat. Sadly, my purse has already gone flitter flat. But it's nice to think about.

Believe me, I die a little every time I see the airfares lately. But getting married in October means I'm not even going to visit my mother in California this year -- it's all about The Big Event this year.

I'm hoping the prices are still approachable next year. We're just extending our Florida stay for a proto-honeymoon now, and hoping to do a BeNeLux beer tour next year for the real thing.
