Why I like working from the cottage

Just off for my lunchtime stroll - it's pretty dry outside, so I think I'll be going here:

Not that I am jealous at all...

You don't have to be too jealous - I broke the golden rule of walking in Argyle, and got in the car when it was dry instead of waiting for it to start raining. Sure enough, it started raining when I was halfway up the hill, reaching its height just as I broke tree cover on my way to the viewpoint in the picture: instead of the islands, when I put my hand up to shelter my face from the hail getting flung in from the West I could see a black curtain heading towards me (anyone who's read The Amber books will know what the chaos storm looked like...). I made it back down into the trees just as the rain set in, and made it back to my car wet through.
I loved it - feeling is coming back into my ears, and my tomato soup is just warming up. Bliss.

*whimper*

Just imagine horizontal hail streaming towards you and a black sky behind it...

Yes, but then you return to warmth and tomato soup and tingly ears, and it's the best feeling in the world.

I take it that means not absolutely pissing down... yet

As I said, I made the classic mistake. It's lovely outside now...

Newbie question: where *is* the cottage? (Argyll is a big place.....)

[identity profile] f4f3.livejournal.com 2006-02-27 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I could narrow it down to mid-Argyle if you like :-)

On the Crinan Canal at Ardrishaig - just at Lock 4.

Oh, lovely! I have very fond memories of exploring the Firth of Clyde with the ex's boat out of Largs - and one specific memory of getting caught in quite hefty winds just at the mouth of the Crinan Canal! Ended up sheltering in the harbour until it calmed down again... Funnily enough, it also looks like I'll be attending a wedding in Lochgilphead in September!

It's a small old world and stuff!

Sick with envy of your lunchtime stroll.

You can have my rain drenched hair-do if you like!
