f4f3: (Let me think about it)

Just back from the dentist. Again. His forensic eye confirmed that I still have a swollen cheek, and his hands of blue detected that the swelling continued above the tooth he filled a week ago. No wonder Conan Doyle based Holmes on a dentist. No, wait.

"The antibiotics are working well, so I'll double the dose." (oh damn, just remembered that I've left the pills at the cafe I had breakfast in. OK, phoned them and they're still there. Phew).
That doesn't sound entirely kosher to me - they're not working, so you need more would be nearer the mark. It was around here that he suggested making an incision into my gum to drain the pus. the what? No one mentioned pus before. I thought it was just, well, swelling. I told him that if the antibiotics didn't clear it, fair enough, but it was him operating on my tooth that caused the infection in the first place, so let's just wait a few days.

The downside of this is that I'm strictly of alcohol for the next week or so, but since I was intending to cut down in February that's not a huge deal (except, naturally, that I have a raft of parties and nights out right now, including a family do that I would really rather be rat-arsed at tonight).

This week has been pretty much a write-off work wise. Monday and Tuesday were lost to no sleep and the fever. Wednesday I went in for half the day, and worked a bit in the afternoon. The last couple of days I've made some meetings on the phone, but not been able to concentrate enough to do real work. This is a shocker to me - usually working from home makes me more productive, not less. Hey-ho.

On the positive side, I did get a full night's sleep last night, so I think that's me on the mend. Various other good signs are that my weight is remaining steady, and my wrists, which I'd convinced myself I'd buggered up forever after the Quad bike incident, seem to be getting better.
