I've always sworn that I wouldn't be one of those folk who post pictures of their cats, but I've been talked into it. In mitigation, this is the only picture I have of Anna, and it's 7 years old now (the picture that is. She's almost 8).
I thought it was a set up for an altered future with The Empire of The Wolf in charge - I had a whole Brian Talbot/Luther Arkwright thing in mind - but it looks like it was a set up for the Torchwood spin-off instead (for those who were snoozing during the Christmas Special).
I thought it had to be at least bit of the altered future, not least because of the possible link to Bad Wolf/the fact that the wolf was from somewhere else in the universe. (Although B. has meanly pointed out to me that returning to the past is basically one of Dr. Who's perennial cheap tricks for keeping down the production costs).
I still think the music is one of the greatest properties of that show. My daughter went and hid under the table, in the approved manner, once that came on. WOOOOOOH-WHOOO ...
I'm not clear on whether the Bad Wolf sub-plot was cleared up at the end of the last series - I had the impression that it was The Daleks playing the long game, but I'd be pleased to be proven wrong.

Actually I did think of your anti-monarchic rant when the Royal Family were revealed to be sekrit werewolves.
Mind you I reckon Queen Victoria was channelling humourless Mancunian patent lawyers, right at the end there.
