"There is a town I used to know."
Dec. 8th, 2008 12:06 pmBack from London – tired but happy. Tired mostly as a function of the flight time – I didn’t land back in Glasgow until almost 11, and I think I got about four and a half hours sleep last night.
Not time to do a full write up, but highlights were Spamalot, Ping-Pong Dim Sum, the Christmas lights and roaring around London in sub-zero temperatures in a mini convertible with the top down, blasting out Jimmy Shand tunes (I may have shouted “Respect the Scottish Massif” at one point – blame the Ping Pong cocktails) .
Oh, and the people too.
Thanks, nice people.
I’ve written about my love/hate, love/love thing for London before. This weekend reminded me that I love being there. I'm happy to be in Scotland - it's the right place for me - but I hadn't realised that I missed London so much until the plane started its approach over Hyde Park and the West End.
I also think that two and a half days is too short for a visit.
I seem to have brought a cold back with me, though. I’ve got a muzzy head and a ball of something in my chest, so it’s time for my last Lemsip.
The diet also starts now – I’ve been letting myself go too much the last month or so, using the fact that I was feeling unwell as an excuse, rather than a symptom. So it’s back to the gym from tomorrow, and no more sweets for me (oh, except for my advent calendar of course).
