Got back last night from an eventful week in London, Somerset and Portsmouth. It was anything but dull, and my diet was probably just on the ok side of healthy, but I didn't do a lot of exercise. So I'd say my campaign to get fitter just about stalled, and that's not a good thing, long term. And this is all about the long term. Basically, that shit that used to work? It don't work no more.

Not, I hasten to add, that my shit is as fucked up as Uncle Warren's was - just that the way I lived in my 30's and 40's is not going to serve me well in my 50's, assuming I get there. So improvements have to be made. Drinking less is helping. Eating well is helping. Meditation is helping. Sleeping more when I get the chance is definitely helping. But doing those things will mostly serve to keep me where I am now. If I want to get better, I need to get off my arse and exercise. That's been going well - my weight went from 102 kilos down to around 95 in 4 months, most of that in the last two months. To keep the progress going, though, I need to keep exercising. And between travel, and holidays, and what not, I've been a bit lazy for the last couple of weeks.

So, to get me back on the right track, I'm going for seven exercise sessions in seven days. That doesn't necessarily mean going to the gym every day - I'll be doing yoga on Tuesday and, hopefully, playing badminton on Wednesday. But I started today with a gym session after work, and it wasn't easy but I know it was good for me. If I do manage the 7 in 7, I might do it again next week. Or I might go the medically recommended 5 in 7. We'll see.

Don't know if I'll get there, but tonight I'm one for one...
