I am busy because I am busy
Nov. 10th, 2014 11:00 amThere's a lovely phrase from Zelazny's "Home Is The Hangman", something along the lines of "An old woman was playing an upright piano in the corner, up-tempoing everything she touched". The character remarks later that life is like that, and that he seems to remember thinking the same thing a few years ago.
So yes, everything is faster in the future.
Time-sinks of the moment include work, play and everything else.
Work because I'm fitting Inverness into my routine again, which always seems to compress the working week. No bad thing, in itself, but last week I did the trip up in down in one day, and that just kills me for the next day. This week I'm taking the train tomorrow, coming back on Wednesday.
That's a slight pain, since my friend Bill is arriving tonight for a visit, but we can work things around. Then Friday is the Scotland v Ireland football match, and Saturday is Robert Plant in Glasgow. It seems strange to be looking forward to the weekend already, on Monday morning, but thats the way it's shaping up already.
November has only just started, and December is already starting to fill up. There's some interesting possibilities around Christmas time, but I'm wating for a couple of things to settle down before making plans (and that has seemed to be the case for a few too many years).
Overall, though, I'm busy, I'm happy, and the sun is shining.
Not a bad way to be, really.
