Busy doing nothing
Feb. 18th, 2008 07:09 pmI've been on a bit of a diet and exercise thing since the start of Lent. Imperfectly observed, as anyone who was at
helen_x 's birthday party will confirm, but still, I'm making the effort. The reward so far is that I'm down 4ibs, by my very unreliable scales. Not a huge loss, but consistent and, at 2 pounds a week, sustainable. With more effort, I should be down a stone by Easter, and that would be no bad thing.
Today's exercise was a 15 minute walk with the dog, then a 20 minute run with the dog, and then half an hour in the gym. I enjoyed it all, except that the running had quite a lot of walking in it. We'll see how that goes.
And I've been inspired by
white_hart, who's just started doing it, and
abrinsky who seems to have been doing it forever, to start putting up a picture of the day.
So I will.

Ardrishaig is mostly a port for pleasure craft these days, providing bacon butties and hot showers to those who indulge in yachting (or caravaning for rich folk, as my pal James calls it. 100 years or so it had a huge herring fleet, but the herring went away. One of the industries that's still on the go is forrestry, though, and this boat calls a couple of times a week to pick up timber. I've always assumed it goes to the paper mill at Irvine, down the West coast, but I could be wrong.
I loved the redness of it against all that blue, and the slightly sinister yellow arm of the loader, and the way it was all mirrored in the Loch.
