f4f3: (Old Firm)

Actually, I'm probably too tired to do extreme length (fnarr fnarr).
Instead of getting an early night before starting work, I watched "The Wind That Shakes the Barley" until after midnight. An excallent film, well meant and acted, but very shouty. And very reminiscent of Animal Farm. Except with fingernail ripping.
Anyway, I set the alarm for 6.30, and was awake at 5.50. It was like the first day of school - I walked the dog, showered, had a two course breakfast, and was still ready 30 minutes too early.
My commute will probably be around 30 minutes on average, and was a little faster today since the schools are on holiday.
The work itself was exactly what I expected - I've a couple of days to come up to speed on a £15 million pound project.
I met up with a couple of old friends, which was fun, and an ex-colleague, which was even more fun. He came over to sympathise with me over the shoddy way I was treated, and how terrible it all was, and I sent him away with tales of how happy I'd been to be made redundant, how I'd had very generous terms, and have spent the last 8 months playing at consultancy and lazing around. I didn't mention that I'm also earning around double my ex-salary, since that's low-class, but he still left looking as if I'd stolen his balloon.
Hee.
The new office is deep in the heart of nowhere, which, if I take pack lunches, will save me a fortune on shopping. I do need to find some form of exercise, though. Maybe I'll start running Merlin in the morning.

Tonight I went off to watch Celtic play Rangers, courtesy of my wee brother lending me his season ticket. It was my first live Old Firm match, and lived up to the billing. Attendance was around 45,000 or so, and, to give some back story, it was Celtic's last chance to stop Rangers winning everything this year. If they lost, they'd be seven points behind and Rangers would have two games in hand. Drama abounded - Celtic scored first, Rangers equalised, a Rangers player was sent off for blocking a Celtic shot with his hand, Celtic missed the resulting penalty. Five minutes of time were added on for injuries, and Celtic scored the winner after three of them. I managed to get a train home, which was absolutely packed with Celtic fans, so I had a chance to learn all the words to "Artur Boric, the Holy Goalie".  Apparently the Celtic goalkeeper, being a good Polish lad (although the type who looks to have been thrown out of a death-squad for being too scary) blesses himself before each game - this did not go over well with the Rangers fans at Ibrox, who are a tiny bit anti-Catholic. Thus was a legend born.

I'm going to link to a very silly version of the song which fans now sing about him,  which has sweary words and the use of the innocent word "Huns" to refer to Glasgow Rangers FC, an affront to Huns everywhere.

*Jealous*

Good to see things are going well.
