"You see, I too am not left handed."

I'm off to learn to fence.

It promised to be insanely great fun. And to make me hurt in new and unusual ways...

The hard part is rolling out 2m mesh by yourself. Most of fencing is easier with two people but trying to manoeuvre a roll of fencing about without anything falling over or moving can be tedious.

Also, if you're buying stuff, make sure you know what it is you want -- we have a couple of lengths of stiff metal fence, 6'-8' long, just sitting in the garage now....

There's a swing here that looks suspiciously like it's made of left-over fence posts.

My own fencing training has all been done on other people's fences so left-overs were their problem. Apart from the pile of palings from my brother that somehow ended up in my garage.

I'm standing above all this, so I am...

As someone said in a parliamentary debate: "The Honourable Gentleman has spent so long sitting on the fence that its iron has begun to enter his soul."

If I'm going to have fencing cluttering up my garage, it would be a lot more fun if it were the flexible orange stuff they use around construction areas.

How sturdy is the swing?

[identity profile] kittenexploring.livejournal.com 2008-04-23 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Very sturdy. 50mm steel posts anchored in bedrock. I simplified a little, though. It's no longer a swing. I cut it off at ground level with an angle grinder and it is now an arch holding a vine up in the garden.
