Not a bad old day for the simple pleasures. The dusting of snow on sodium lit streets when I left for the gym, 30 minutes of honest sweat, and it was more or less full daylight when I reached the office.

The snow looked spectacular, and I left the office an hour early to come home, but it hasn't amounted to much of a problem here. Yet.

This evening was the first of Oran Mor's "A Cocktail, A Canape and a Concert" nights this year, so [livejournal.com profile] unblinkered  and I waded through a bit of slush to get there. I'm glad we did. Despite the ludicrous new "Maximum 3 Canapes" rule.

Fantastic Mozart, some Mendelssohn I hadn't heard before, and a dozen young wind musicians who will go on to great things.

Afterwards, more or less on a whim, we tried out Paradise, the new Persian restaurant on Great Western Road - excellent service, huge portions (really, really huge portions) and very well priced. We'll be back.

I'm now back home, about to find out that my BMI has gone up since yesterday, and ready for an early night.

Not away, or busy, and delighted to hear it. unblinkered and I will be there that weekend, and unless you want to arrive on Valentine's, Sunday is a good time to arrive, or any time the following week - would you be planning to hire a car? All sorts of things are possible - I may even let you borrow unblinkered for a bit :-), and Merlin and Anna...

Erm, I think I have a plan! I chatted a little to [livejournal.com profile] unblinkered yesterday and I have also sounded out my stepmum.

We would, if all goes well (actually, if we fit in the house) go up Fri eve or Sat and stay in Bearsden visiting various extended family; and then drive up to the cottage (late!) Sunday morning, stay on depending on the weather and go home again Wednesday or Thursday. Provided I don't kill the kids, we could aim to fly back Thursday daytime.

Does that sound doable? I thought we could play it a bit by ear, go and look at stuff if the weather is OK.

Young P. is offering to bring any good console games you don't already have. He is also excited about Merlin.

That sounds like an excellent plan - I'll stay until Monday morning, then head back to work, and leave you lot enjoying yourself - you could even fit a day or so in Glasgow in staying at the flat, and showing me how to play Wii games...

Oh, and when do you arrive?
If you're worried about all fitting in at the house, there could be some key dropping done before we leave, and you can borrow the flat (if that's ok with unblinkered). Of course, you might then never drag them out to Kintyre...
