Pleasant Surprises
Mar. 11th, 2009 07:46 pmI've had a coupe of unexpected nice things happen today. I went off to a launch for my chum Paul's new corporate venture. Apart from chatting to the head of Scottish Enterprise about my days at the SDA in 1985, it was a bit of a dry affair. On the way out, though, I was gifted with a goodie bag containing Edinburgh Rock and some Glenfiddich, and a golf brolly - which will come in handy walking Merlin.
When I got home the flexible parcel waiting for me turned out to be a proof copy of another chum's latest book. Mike Cobley is one of the good guys, and it was nice to see "Seeds of Earth" get a nice write up in the Grauniad this weekend.
Now I have to minister to a bruised and sniffily
unblinkered , who's had a hell of a day of it and has still managed to wonderfully spice and marinade a leg of mutton for tomorrow night's birthday feast. She is a bit of a superstar, you know.
