"Wherever you go, there you are..."
Dec. 27th, 2009 03:54 pmWell, my Christmas plans changed pretty quickly, and pretty radically. The job situation resolved itself to my (temporary) satisfaction on Wednesday, after
unblinkered had left for Germany, and we'd both resigned ourselves to being apart at Christmas.
I decide, bugger that, and booked a flight on Wednesday afternoon, which meant a day spent rushing around disposing of pets to my mum, packing, making the flat secure for a week, and finally getting up at 3.30 for my flight.
All went smoothly on the trip, and I arrived about 12 hours after that wake up, proving that unblinkered has a strong heart in more ways than one (oh, didn't I mention that I hadn't told her about my snap change of mind? My bad.) I travelled in the kilt, just for fun, and I enjoyed it. KLM were great, German railways lived up to their proverbial status, and it was as comfortable a trip as anyone could have had through the snow.
Chistmas Eve/Christmas went well, as did Christmas/Her Gran's Birthday - snow arrived on cue, and the view from the flat remains lovely, especially at this time of year.
Emden is as quiet as ever, although, scandalously, some shops seem to have opened today - for shame!
Tonight we are off to a neighbour's, and then supper.
Tomorrow will be a little light shopping, dinner at a nice place (my kilt may get another airing) and then an earliesh night, and back to Scotland on Tuesday.
Happy Christmas, y'all, and a guid New Year when it comes...

Date: 2009-12-27 09:32 pm (UTC)yaye for spontaneous trips and being together. Emden sounds rather ridiculously wonderful, and I'm sure their Christmas would not be the same without the bonnie Scots lad in the skirt leaving interesting tracks in the snow. ;)
I hope you both are having a truly brilliant time.
*hugs*
