Still jittery. Haven't heard anything on the medical side, and I'm self medicating with tablet (which does not count as chocolate, for the purporses of the "I'm Off Chocolate For Lent" accord, 2012).

Speaking of work, this contract is now in its last 4 weeks. Since it was originally scheduled for 12 months, and it will run to 15, I think I count it as a win. I won't go into too much detail on an open post, but the last 18 months have been a balance of positives (taking my skills into a new industry, and finding out that they transfer) and negatives (principally dealing with the daily commute from Glasgow to Edinburgh, and how that turned a typical working week of 48 hours into a much more tiring 60 hours).

I'm not actively looking for another contract yet. I think I need (and can afford) a month or two off just now, and it's a very good time for reflection both on work and on my future. Of course, I'll need to have a plan for that. Maybe I should contact

Hopefully I'll have an update on my dad by tonight, and if so I'll put a note up here. It's not totally beyond the bounds of possibility that he's on a golf course by now...
