Testing testing...

So is LJ still breathing, or has it shuffled off this mortal coil?

I think we're in what might be called a prolonged social media death-rattle.

This. Last coupl,.e of days have seen various people I know dust off the placeholder accounts they'd set up on DW for just such an eventuality. I suspect I'll be joining them shortly and crossposting like everyone else. It's a shame, I don't want to see LJ die, but every outage brings the inevitable that little bit closer.

I think that not being able to trust the stability of the platform would be the one thing that would stop me posting. I'm not at that stage yet, though.

Maybe, maybe not. It might just be a very long tail, in which case I'll stay here and enjoy the heat death of the universe.

I think I have ... 4 active friends on here. Sad. :-/

I'm still in double figures, at least - and depending on how we define active, probably a lot more.

It almost always takes me hours to catch up, but then I've gone from reading my whole friends page a couple of times a day to a couple of times a week.

Very quiet over Christmas, as it frequently is. Not helped by the constant attacks that keep knocking it over. I've seen several people migrate to Dreamwdith over the last few days.

If the instability is being caused by attacks, than that makes me more likely to stay.

It's being caused, as usual, by DDOS attacks, mostly because in Russia LJ is used by a lot of political bloggers.

And I have sympathy with them over that, but I'm already posting via DW, so I'm happy with that.

Sounds like the wise course. Of course, it also requires taking an action, eating up time I could be spending listening to Townes van Zandt singing "I Ain't Leaving Your Love".

Speak up, I say, speak up there girl

It would be long dead if there were another, popular, medium which encouraged longer posts or discussion beyond what is deemed fitting for optimal ad placement.

Yes - and that's why I stick around, so that I can witter on without worrying about the word count, or having to pay for my posts to be seen by everyone on my flist.

I have had huge problems even seein my f-list from both phone & iPad. Click on LJ but it reuses to load. Also O2 randomly now are imaging it's a site for over 18s only & wnt my credit card details before they'll let me see it. No idea why, was fine till recently. Which of ourselves I refuse to give.
