Up at a reasonable hour, and made myself some porridge and a big travel mug of coffee. I took the coffee with me to the Quaker Meeting House. It was a busy meeting, and quite a lot of people spoke up. I was one of them. There had been some talk about privilege, and responsibility, and I gave them my Dad's advice to me when I left for University (no, not the advice about nipples, the other advice). That's kind of an entry to itself, though, so I'll leave it for another time.

I picked up my dry cleaning and had lunch in a local caff. It will mean nothing at all to anyone outside Glasgow that I found out they use Morton's rolls, but for those of you in Glasgow the Great Western Cafe uses Morton's rolls.

I popped home to change into some warmer clothes, and make another big mug of latte, then headed off to Edinburgh. My friend Marie had a sauna put in her garden over Christmas, and I was invited to give it a try. I can confirm that it's a very nice sauna, and goes very well with her hot tub. I don't see how they're going to keep the snow piped in all year, though.

I hadn't planned on staying for dinner, but she made me stay by using wiles. She said "Do you want to stay for dinner." Her partner Mike was busy working, but I had a very enjoyable afternoon with Marie and her daughter Charlotte, shooting the breeze and being sarcastic about Nanny MacPhee. I think I've now got a partner to take to the Joss Whedon UK premiere next month, with a beautiful woman half my age lined up to step in if her mum can't make it (I may not have mentioned that I booked two tickets for "Much Ado About Nothing", which is the closing film for the Glasgow Film Festival, and includes entry to the closing gala. I booked two tickets out of habit, and thought I might have to advertise for a female geek on Gumtree. Looks like I'm saved from that, since Marie and I have history with movie adaptions of Shakespeare, and Charlotte is a drama student with a fair shot of geekiness on top. Now I just need to find someone to go with me to the other event I booked, Mark Millar interviewing Alex Salmond about what gets his geek on.)

I'm home now, after a very quick drive back from Edinburgh. There's a lot of snow forecast for tomorrow, and I won't be driving back that way for work. Depending on how much snow I'll either get the train or work from home.

Now, should I have a nightcap, or a cup of tea and a biscuit? Life is complicated...

In that case I'll stop looking for offers :-)

It's Tuesday the 19th of February at 6.15 - do you think you'll be able to meet me in town?

I'll arm wrestle Kiz for the Salmond gig. And then sell my BFF(?)'s plasma for the plane ticket to get there.

If you make the arm-wrestling pay-per-view it will pay for your flight...
