I have a cat
Jun. 5th, 2013 06:12 pmAnna is home, fully rehydrated and apparently none the worse for her GA. She's a bit quiet, and has a pink bandage on her right leg, where the IV went in. The vet took 3 x-rays, which weren't conclusive - no clear masses to identify.
The best opinion at the moment is that she either has a growth which is difficult to image, or a severe infection. Bloods have been sent up to the Vet School, and results will be back on Friday. The Glasgow Vet School just happens to be the best research institute in the world for domestic felines. I picked Anna up from the new Small Animal Hospital this morning, and it's an amazing piece of design).
So I have a cat who doesn't want to walk (because of the bandage) and who is turning up her nose at all food, even the smelly sardines I bought for her. Apparently cat's appetite is linked to their sense of smell, and if she can't smell she won't eat. I've been told to put olbas oil where she sleeps, which means my bed clothes are going to smell funny for a while.
If she was eating, or at least drinking, and not making the horrible death rattle breath sounds, I'd be quite cheerful. As it is, I've to take her in tomorrow for a status check, and we'll have the result of the blood tests back on Friday.
I'll try to keep the fretting down to background levels...
