Swings! Roundabouts! Snakes! Ladders!
The etiquette (and downright self-preservation) or writing about work on any forum is that all I can say is that a good thing happened on Friday, and an unrelated very slow car crash has been happening for the last two days. I'm very good at coming in at the last moment and rescuing a failing situation, and I'm totally bereft when I come in to an impossible situation at the last moment and know immediately that it can't be rescued.
Unfortunately I couldn't persaude everyone else to walk away, so I've been working flat out to what I was almost certain was no avail. Ach well...
I'm well enough liked here that I've been invited to the office party up in Inverness - it's a bit of a drive, but worth it to build some solid contacts up there. They are a good bunch, and I can get some work done on Friday while I'm up. I'm slightly worried about the weather - snow is forecast for the north and west tomorrow, and my new car is not renowned for grip. If it's too bad then I won't go, or I'll get a train.
Ah, but the Highlands in snow...
