Ok, I'm putting together a mix which will take my pulse rate from rest (about 80 bpm, apparently)into the weight loss zone (90-125) and leave me firmly in the cardio-vascular zone (125-150)before easing me back down to a soft landing.

I'm finding Tom Waits uniquely unqualified for this (except for "Going Out West" from Bone Machine, which has a great Drum and Bass solo. Well actually, it has a great Drum and Someone Kicking the Shit out of a Wardrobe solo, but let's not quibble).

So all suggestions greatfully received, and I promise to gym test every one...

I started thinking of Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" & similar, and not because this is starting to sound like the Trainspotting soundtrack!

Some old 70s favourites have great tempo changes culminating in serious drum work-outs, too.

Oh - lust for life definitely - and maybe Jean Jeannie, and I just remembered that I bought a very dodgy double CD of '80's remixes just to get "Papa's Got A Brand New Pigbag"

Just had a thought that "Passenger" might make the ideal warm-up track.

"And I ride, and I ride and I ride..."
