And all in all, there's more to like than not to like.
There's a few alterations from the source material, and some of them are a bit cringeworthy (mostly dialogue and one hideously, hideously misjudged song placement) but nothing that undercuts the story's spine. The temptation is to say "It's both original and good. Unfortunately the good parts aren't original, and the original parts aren't good" but that's unfair - some of the new stuff works well.

And it's a stonking soundtrack.

Just back from seeing and hearing Lorna Brooks at Cafe Sith. A really lovely gig. She has a great voice, and a good Glasgow presence about her. Sith also worked surprisingly well as a gig space, and seemed respectably full with 20 odd folk in for food and (quite abominable) wine. I'm really enjoying these small scale gigs. Martin Stephenson in a tennis club, Lorna in a cafe. Now if only I could book Lloyd Cole for my front room...

An enjoyable crowd, too. Up until five minutes before the start I thought I was going to be the only man in the room, and it's been a while since I was in that position at a gig...
