Not so much a block, more a speedbump.
Nov. 9th, 2005 09:54 amSorry for the falling off of my writing, but I stupidly took the weekend off, then I had to drive to Newcastle on Monday, then things got crazy with work yesterday - hopefully back on track tonight.
Also not helping is the Ramayana. Well, actually, it's helping tremendously, partly because I'm enjoying it so much, partly for a lovely idea on magical weapons, and partly, beleive it or not, for the translator's note. She says how much she hates translations full of "thees and thous" and that epics are epic because of the action, and the stature of the actors, not because of any fancy language, and that you shouldn't notice the language at all, except in some carefully considered spots. That has a lot of relevance to writing heroic fantasy, I think.
