Not quite what I had in mind...
Jul. 25th, 2008 07:39 pmIt's amazing how quickly I fall back into old patterns when I'm on my own. That's something I've spent quite a bit doing in the last couple of years, but not so much now.
I got home about 5.30, and had some vague plans of getting a Chinese meal, maybe taking in a movie, and I still had that idea after I walked Merlin. Wandering around, I found I'd accidentally put on a washing and tidied up a little. Still thinking about what I'd get to eat, I found myself in the middle of making Lazy Carbonara, while I listened to the Archers (yes, I cried. Who knew old Joe was so wise?). One of the nice things about the new flat is that I can sit in the kitchen with the back door open, and feel half outside. It's warm and balmy tonight. So I sat with my back to the door, ate my pasta, sipped some wine, and started the second Amber cycle, with Radio 4 still on. Later, I'll put on a DVD, and probably kill the bottle. I'd prefer it if unblinkered were here, and I'll be very glad when she's back, but it's probably worth a smile that I'm home alone, and staying in with my cat and dog instead of hitting the cocktail bars of the West End...
