"Then you'd better come into my bouidoir."

Having a lazy, solitary, but enjoyable weekend. One of the benefits of having a dog is that I couldn't lie in bed until noon yesterday after my late night. Merlin and I went for a wander, and I picked up lunch at "Sip and Surf" on Great Western Road. It isn't remotely as bad as the name suggests, but it was a little cold to sit outside. That's one of the great side benefits of the smoking ban for we dog walkers - almost every cafe has seats outside on the pavement now. Glasgow, city of boulevardiers, who'd have thought it? (and, of course, Great Western Road is known as the Boulevard, when it widens out further West). I pottered about in the afternoon, doing nothing useful except re-reading a Brookmyre (All Fun and Games Until Someone Loses An Eye - you know, I've read it three times now, and the significance of the two main characters' surnames only hit me when I closed the book again last night - Bell and Bett. She keeps saying"He's a monster" all the way through the book, he lives in a castle, and I still didn't get it...).
When I noticed it was getting dark, I took Merlin for his donner doon the Kelvin, and decided to phone up the Gourmet Kitchen and order a take-away. Confusion ensued - I tried to order the lamb dish I'd had when I visited, except I confused it with the shredded pork, and insisted it was fried. The waitress guessed I meant lamb and corriander, and had that ready when I arrived. It's a dish from what she calls "The Chinese food menu", which isn't available in English, and gives you an idea of what they think of the food on the "other" menu. Just as well she was so smart, as their were traffic wardens on the prowl outside. At 8.00 on a Saturday night (also saw them this morning just round the corner, booking cars causing no problem at all).
The food was lovely. No gloopy sauce, just perfectly done lamb in a spicy gravy. Yum.
After that I put a dent in the DVD menu by watching "The Fountain". Lovely to look at, and to listen to, but daft as a porridge knife.
Today is shaping up to be equally low-key, except I'll do some useful stuff, like washing and tidying, not that I'm back from brunch at Bean Scene. I had the choice of heading over to Ladybank to play golf with Keef, but my shoes and clubs are at the cottage and, to be honest, I don't feel like sitting in the car for three hours or so getting there and back. I'm a little bummed about not seeing him though.
Ok, off to tackle the laundry...

I love that your dog is called Merlin - what breed?
ps. I've done nothing but eat, drink and mostly make merry this weekend, and you still manage to make me hungry. *g*
