Leaves in my pocket like blades of Autumn
Oct. 3rd, 2009 11:34 amI forgot to mention that it got pretty windy last night. One of those ghosts of a hurricane that come sweeping down over Scotland at this time of year (S&H was born in a storm - Oct 16th, 1987). I walked down to meet my friends along Kelvin Way, which links the University with Kelvingrove Museum. It's a broad, perfectly straight avenue through the park, which seems narrower and darker because of the trees lining it. Back in the day it was probably the number one cruising spot in Glasgow, but additional street lighting and nice warm clubs seem to have put an end to that.
Anyway, last night I was strolling along with my 1980's mix ringing in my ears (it seemed to have got stuck on Simple Minds, with The American, New Gold Dream and Love Song being just the right length to take me the length of my walk) when I was surrounded by a shower of falling leaves. It was a very "American Beauty" moment, which I'd almost forgotten until this morning, when I took Merlin out for a walk, put my hand in my jacket pocket to get him a treat, and came out with a single, beautiful oak leaf.
I love this time of year....
