Ungrumped, mostly
Oct. 8th, 2009 09:44 pmAh, so exercising makes me less tired, and also less grumpy. That's something I should have remembered.
One of the nice things about meeting a friend in a coffee shop as opposed to a bar is that I'm home early with excess energy, instead of the opposite.
So I'm typing instead of tippling, which can only be a good thing. I'm a little rusty in the writing department, and for someone who defined himself as a writer for the best part of 20 years that's a bit, well, unusual.
I may take a run at the annual novel in a month exercise, just to shake off some of that rust. I've had an idea at the back of my mind for a while now which might run to novel length. I'll poke it with a stick and see if it grows a spine...
This week has been slightly over-committed in work terms, as I try to secure a new assignment to take me through to the spring (job hunting in the Winter sucks wet farts out of dead pigeons). So I have to deliver a business case and a terms of reference by tomorrow at noon. Not too hard when I was in the habit of doing these things, and I put together a reasonable draft in an hour or so this afternoon. I think I'll steal a meeting room for a couple of hours tomorrow morning (preferably one with no web access) and finish up.
The new piece of work would be appealing in a technical way, it has a fairly clear scope, and a definite end date. If I don't get it I shall be most put out.
All things being equal, I'll also be off to the cottage tomorrow night. My general grumpiness may not be totally unconnected to my not having been there for almost a month.
Ok, time to have a dram and poke my idea...
