f4f3: (Tom Waits)

Work was a bit too busy today. From about 8.00 till 17.30 I didn't get to look up much (except to follow the Guardian Gagging fiasco on Twitter). I drove back home a bit too quickly, since I was feeling bad about leaving Merlin alone for so long.

Things took a definite turn for the better this evening, though. [livejournal.com profile] jmcl63 came round for dinner and games playing, bringing a game called Carcasonne, which I'd never played, but turns out to be really fun, and deceptively easy to play. It would be immodest to report that in my second ever game I managed to finesse the result such that not only did I win, but John came in last, which he took in good part. Or faked well.

I've also just downloaded some preview tracks from Tom Waits' upcoming live album, Glitter and Doom, tipped off by no fewer than three friends, [personal profile] morgaine_x , [personal profile] uncle_simon and [personal profile] frankie_ecap . Thanks are due to all, as are wolf tickets.

The tracks sound damn fine, too, although I'll probably hold out for the CD release to get the bonus disk of 'tween song patter from Uncle Tom. Can't believe anyone here hasn't heard him, but here's a link to one of my favourite songs (not favourite Tom Waits songs, favourite songs, period), Hold On. Looks like a damn fine web site, too.

Following on from my last entry, I'll be off to a Diwali whisky tasting on Thursday - no idea how that will go, but you'll read about it here first...
