Today is a bank holiday in the land where we know how to show our livers a good time, and two days are required to recover from Hogmany. Luckily some shops ignore this, so I managed to do a bit of admin on my last day off.
This meant getting my eyes tested for spectacles and contact lenses and finding that my prescription has worsened for both. Nothing dramatic, but I'll probably be looking at bifocals in a few years. I'm quite looking forward to this, actually.
I've ordered up some rather snazzier than usual specs, which I should be picking up on Saturday morning. Pics will follow.
Speaking of which: the holiday stubble -

With added cat (she's on my sofa since she threw up on her sofa this afternoon).

Enjoy the stubble in all it's glory, since it'll be getting trimmed in a couple of hours. I think there's the making of a good Colin Farrel in Miami Vice porn-star mustache there.

My other piece of admin was getting Scooby back on the road. I didn't have the heart to run him on the temporary spare, so I went up to the nearest Kwik Fit and paid marginally over the odds for two tyres. One to replace the flat that kept us at home over New Year, and one to replace the other front tyre, which was looking a bit baldy. I need to get my tracking looked at too.

So back to work tomorrow, and on to operation stash the cash. My current client have been great for the past two years, but I think the seam may have been mined dry, and although I've switched to two new projects I think they will go to full time employees as soon as the new outsourced supplier have settled in - it makes no sense to pay my rates when off-shore comes cheaper. So I reckon I have three months to change career - again. I'm looking forward to it, again. Two years is a good run for my sort of work, so I'll have no complaints, and this time I have a bit of warning.

New Year. Time for change.

In my head you look like a cross between Bogey and Bertie/Laurie, due to the magic of the internet. And in this picture, I think you look like a bearded cross between Bogey and Bertie/Laurie. Also probably due to the magic of the internet.

You do not, however, *sound* like a cross between them (or just straight up like either of them). So I guess the internet isn't THAT magic.

Technology bests my imagination regularly.

Also, HNY and change.

I COULD sound like that, I'm sure. And how do you *know* how I sound?

Ah... apologies. In my head, you can deploy any range of dialect skills, but default to the kind of Glasgow dialect that couldn't be anything but, but isn't the kind that seems to be made of all vowels and a few "chhs" "rrrrrrs" and an occasional "gie us wannatheychipsman."

For all I really know, you were born into a family that speaks perfect Punjabi-Glasweigan, which is my favorite speech patterns/ accents of all the speech patterns/ accents ever, including northern Minnesota, and that's saying something.

I wish I did have the Punjabi-Glaswegian, but no, I'm pretty much Gilmorehill now (except when I speak to my wee bro')
