...which I should spend more time blogging about. Like buying latte and a still-warm Portuguese custard tart from Heart Buchanan, and eating it while walking back with Merlin through the Botanics, on a cold, clear morning. Finding the heron perched beneath the bridge I was walking over, and studying him from about 10 feet away, before he unfolded himself and flapped off down river. Knowing that I'll be joining unblinkered for brunch soon, and that we have dinner with friends tonight.

Work is crap at the moment - to paraphrase Woody Allen, it's miserable and dreary and it's going to be over too soon. I'm out of contract at the end of this month, and even though I have nothing lined up I'm looking forward to the month end.

So the simple pleasures are what I'm embracing. Hearing from a friend that she's feeling a little better. Flaky pastry getting stuck in my beard. Going to scary, crap nightclubs and laughing so much I could barely finish my one drink minimum. Mixed pakora from BBQ Kings at 1.00 a.m. (and Chris was so right about the mushroom pakora, which is my new favourite). Watching Anna groom Merlin, and listening to him groaning with guilty pleasure (of course dogs know what guilt is - you should see him post-bin raiding).

Good morning to you all. One morning it was Spring, and the whole world woke up...

I do love the way you experience life, dear sir.

Please give your lovely lady my regards, and Merlin a huge scritch around the ears and neck. Puppy loving, oh how I do miss it.

Autumn and Spring are my favourite seasons - I love the transition. Talking to the trees and telling them it's ok to go to sleep now, or to put out new little buds and wake up.

Yes, apparently I am that crazy lady children avoid in the park. :D

Scotland doesn't really go in for seasons in a big way. Sure, some days it snows and some days you can go outside without a jacket, but we're pretty much constant...
But I do know the the snowdrops are out, and the crocuses, and that one day soon I really will have to attack the cottage garden with a chainsaw...

Considering how close I am to where they filmed "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", that "attacking with a chainsaw" sounds a little ominous. :)

What in the garden needs to be attacked?
