Bank Holidays FTW
May. 3rd, 2010 11:34 pmExcellent three day weekend.
unblinkered and I bundled animals, her bike, and ourselves into the car for a blast up to the cottage. We arrived in time to try out the new Indian restaurant in Lochgilphead (not bad) and enjoy the cherry blossom on the tiny tree next door. Saturday we did lots of chilling, and bought lots of good food. We had a plan to go to the Kilberry Inn for dinner, but I forgot to book it on time.
Sunday we took the bikes out to the Faery Isles - a lovely little run which turned out a bit harder than I remembered, mostly due to muddy paths.
We also caught up on Deadwood, to the end of the first disk of season three. Scary stuff.
Today we stretched our legs by cycling along the canal to Cairnbann, had lots more lovely food, and made a glorious drive back down through the gloaming.
I got a call from an agency asking me to go along to an interview in Helensburgh on Wednesday. It's for a short term contract which would be a useful stop-gap, and put some more money in the bank.
I've really enjoyed my month off, and between the rest and taking up meditation I've brought my blood pressure down from a dangerous 150/110 to a healthy 130/90. I haven't started to spoil that by worrying about not having a job yet, and it would be nice to circumvent that by getting sorted out quickly.
Oh, and I may have left my wallet at the cottage, which would mean a round trip there and back on Wednesday...
