How many things make a post?

f4f3I'm on the train - still blessing the technology that means I can draft a post and put it up before I arrive at Edinburgh Park. Of course, it's a mixed blessing, since what you get will mostly be stream of babble.
1. Brits Out
It's been a while since I've said that, and I'm not entirely happy to be returning to it. Brits out of Europe, this time, not Ireland, and I disapprove. One of my few remaining reasons for voting Labour and not SNP (and belonging to the Labour party) is that the UK can be a positive force in Europe, in the same way that Labour can be a positive force in the UK. This coalition seems hell bent on removing those possibilities. Others have focused on Cameron's unchallengeable assumption that what's good for the City of London is good for the UK, and vice versa. He's wrong, but you can see his logic, and his loyalty to the people who paid for his campaign. What I find hard to believe is that Clegg's impotent trumpetting over the weekend was in response to the LD grandees' rage. If Cameron wanted to burn Shirley Williams on College Green, Clegg would pass him the matches. There is no principle that the LDs will not repudiate in return for hanging on to their Faustian bargain. They will cling to the anchor of responsibility without power even as it pulls them deeper into electoral oblivion.
One aspect of this that makes me chuckle is the Scottish angle. The unionist parties have been arguing for years that an independent Scotland would not be guaranteed EU membership, and would have to renegotiate entry. OK, it's pretty basic humour, but still funny.
2. Christmas
Is coming, apparently. I have bought no Christmas presents. This isn't unusual, but this year promises to be more challenging than most, since I only have one weekend to go. Will need to go some late night shopping this week, and lots of Amazon buying. Still, how hard can it be?
3. X-Factor, Strictly
Still haven't watched either. I hope everyone who does is enjoying them, and everyone who doesn't will kindly STFU about it - if you don't like them, don't watch, and don't clutter up my Twitter and Facebook with moaning about it.
4. Weather
Small hurricane last week, not many hurt. Some snow expected at some point. Nothing to get fussed about.
