I apologise for the theme I chose at random. It even hurts MY eyes, and I will change it back.
And talking of changes...

I'm not working in Slough anymore, and I'm not going to be spending the next 6 months in Slough. I knew that I didn't want to do this, but I wasn't sure that I could extricate myself from it without pissing off enough people to become unemployed.
It turns out that I could.
At the moment, I have an extra month on my contract with Big Japanese Firm, and they are trying to turn me into a full time employee, as opposed to a contractor. The money which has been mentioned is good enough, and the offer is to spend the majority of my time in Edinburgh.
The only problem is that the offer is one of those mythical sorts, which hasn't been presented as what we in the legal line would call "an offer capable of acceptance".
Hopefully it will be by the end of this month (I've seen an email from the chief financial officer saying that it should be), but if not I won't sneeze at the chance of some time off.

If it does come off, then I'll look seriously at moving to Edinburgh. I want to cut down on the time I spend travelling, and increase the time I spend doing things I like, such as writing, and dancing, and cycling, and playing badminton.

Maybe not playing badminton. I made my come back last night, after almost a year of not playing. I warmed up. I played a half-paced game. And then I played a game of mixed, and after about 4 points I knackered my leg going for a drop shot, in exactly the same way I did about a couple of years ago. So I'm hobbling around today, knowing that I have a weekend away, and in two weeks I'll be cycling through Islay and up to Jura.

Here's hoping for a rapid recovery...

That all sounds good. Except for the badminton injury, obvs.
