I like people. Honest, guv. I'm a rational man with a firm grasp of the species' social aspect. Plus I'm a Pisces.

Sometimes though, I get a day like today, which was perfect without any company whatsoever, though it ended up with a niggle because of accidentally falling into company with someone who is harbouring a grudge after 20 years, and not being too graceful about it.

Anyway - good stuff.

Lunch in Stravaigan, which was made up of salt and pepper king prawns which were great, and stir fried rump steak strips, which were even better.

Then a walk through Kelvingrove park in the sunshine to the Glasgow IMAX, and a showing of Man of Steel. It's hard to spoiler this, since it's the same origin story as ever ("What", as everyone never complains, "ANOTHER version of Hamlet?") which I enjoyed with a few reservations. It wasn't just the cast crossover which reminded me of the Matrix, and in one case reminded me of the Matrix reminding me of Alan Moore's Marvelman, but there were some story telling choices I wasn't comfortable with. But Kal looked great, Kevin Costner makes a great, if criminally underused, Jonathon Kent, and Jor El gets to kick some ass for a change. Overall, a great movie for the IMAX.

On the walk back, I stopped to have dinner at Crabshakk, a very good and very busy seafood place on my way back to the flat. The weather was nice enough to eat at an outside table, and I really enjoyed my queenie scallops and scampi.

On the way back from there I was very happy to see the delightful [livejournal.com profile] ms_chatelaine outside Stravaigan, and joined her for a quick cocktail.

And now I'm home again, chilling at the flat, and about to put on the Bluray of L.A. Confidential, which I picked up for a song at FOPP.

I do love being around people, but sometimes you get sent days like these, and I'm grateful for them.

Sounds like a mostly good day.

People that hold grudges for 20 years, over minor things, bother me. If nothing else, people change a lot over that time.

All of this is true, and I thought we'd buried hatchets 3 or 4 years ago. Still, this is someone who told me (about 15 years ago) that he went to bed every night and prayed for my downfall.

Yeah, I don't think I'd feel comfortable around someone who prayed for _anyone's_ downfall, let alone mine!

I meant to say - I'm coming to Glasgow on Friday, funeral is Saturday, heading home Sunday. Don't know if you will be in Glasgow on Sunday but there may be the chance of a cup of tea at the very least, if you are?

I may also have the wee one in tow, not yet decided. So yeah.
