Small traffic accident tonight. I'm fine, person who bumped into me is fine, my car has a bit of a scrape, her car has more of a scrape. Doubtless this will cost me money somehow.
I didn't get sent to Belfast today, which is a good and a bad thing. Good, because until the petrol bombs stop flying, I'm quite happy to stay right here, thank you. But it's a bad thing, because I'm not being kept busy, and being kept busy is what I require right now.
Still, I've had fringe shows and long drives, and I'm probably going to work by bike and train tomorrow, so the world will be occupied enough.
The bump tonight has also encouraged me to do something about signing up for a company car. I've been swithering all over the place on choosing one, with everything from the Panzer like BMW 5 Series to the Matchbox like Toyota GT 86 under consideration. At the moment I'm thinking I want something small (because there's only the one of me) with four wheel drive (because it snows in Scotland). If I get a two seater, or a small coupe then I can put roof bars and a bike rack on it, which seems to make more sense than getting something huge and then predominately using it to drive one person around.
So I'm strongly favouring an Audi TT Quatro, which has two tiny seats in the back and a metal roof to put those roof bars on. It will cost me the same as that BMW 5 series would, or the 4 series that I was also thinking of. Neither of them have four wheel drive, but mostly I think it will be more fun to drive. I test drove a 5 at the weekend and it was all sorts of dull. Beautifully put together, all sorts of toys, but dull.
So unless anyone comes up with a better idea, small may well be beautiful.
