The worst thing about waking up with a hangover...

Is when you haven't been drinking for two days. I put this morning's sinus headache and sore throat down to a late night on Sunday, and it was only when I was in the car to work and the first sneeze hit me that I realised I hadn't been out last night, or the night before, and that this might be another cold.

So I've dosed myself up with my old friend "Boots Chesty Cough Relief" and I'm trying to ignore the slightly shakey legs and the odd sneeze,

As I said yesterday, I think this should be a quiet week, and I should really use it to finish my Christmas shopping. Don't be fooled by that remark into thinking that I've started my Christmas shopping, because I haven't.

This year's shopping will be made a little easier because I have presents that I wrapped up last year and never delivered (it's a long story) and I also "accidentally" bought three wonderful pieces of art in a silent auction a couple of weeks ago (I made a secret bid on three, in the hope of getting at least one, and all three of my bids came in).

I'll probably wimp out on the family presents, and send hampers to mum, dad, and my far-flung sister in Portsmouth. Additional pressies may come through Amazon (and not just because I can get them to gift wrap for me).

I've decided on my own present for this year: I'm going to buy myself a toaster. A nice big Dualit thing, with clockwork dials and black knobs on the end of metal levers.

Because I'm worth it.

We were going to buy ourselves a Dualit toaster, too, but I was talking to someone the other day who said they aren't all that - she had one and it failed after 18 months and started tripping the power whenever she used it. And it only had a 12 month warranty. So we may get a different kind of fancy toaster instead.
