Back down to the Smoke tomorrow - any suggestions for a London playlist?

London Calling, clearly.

For the evening, Waterloo Sunset, perhaps?

Damn, beat me to it. (The Clash)

...and having expended oh, all of 45 seconds - I think the music that has the strongest London association for me (aside from those mentioned above, obviously) is the early Rolling Stones.

As an example. "Mother's Little Helper",. that period. Why, do you need some?

No, and funnily enough I was just adding the Stones track and swithering between breakdown/have you seen your mother baby/mother's little helper.

Which reminds me - must put on a Michael Caine sample from Get Carter.

I have Peter Sellers doing a "Hard Day's Night" and William Shatner's "I am Canadian" rant for breaks on mine.

Yup, definitely London Calling - hadn't thought of WS, but shockingly it isn't in my iTunes library!

For some reason I never associate that with London, but it's going in - the Bap Kennedy/Steve Earle version I think.

I think I'll leave off the Bomb one given current news stories, but In The City definitely.

Maybe a Town Called Malice too...

I'm thinking of using "Caledonia" (the Franky Miller cover, not the Dougie MacClean original) because of that advert where it's used to show someone leaving London to come home to Scotland, but it might be stretching things a bit...
