I've just had a really lovely week, seven days of unbroken sunshine, healthy eating and relaxation, so it makes perfect sense that I'm in bed at 12 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon.

I've been carrying a cold since about Thursday, and last night I finally gave in, had a bowl of Special K for dinner, and took to bed. Which has worked out remarkably well. I had at least 10 hours of sleep, and this morning (ok, this afternoon) I feel a lot better, and my cough is remarkably productive.

The first half of this week was spent working more or less to American hours in Somerset with [livejournal.com profile] widgetfox and her charming dad. I made a lot of Skype phone calls, and turned out a document which wasn't half bad, considering that the previous version took two people six months. I then declared a long weekend, and we actually had two days of holiday. Well, I did - she managed to keep working.

I finished off the week in Portsmouth, finally getting to my sister's "new" house there (look, it's only been 3 years, ok?) and watching the Olympic Opening Ceremony with her family - Bro-in-law, niece and nephew. It may have been the heady combination of lemsip flu-max and a couple of glasses of Sauv Blanc, but I found the show told a remarkably completely coherent and inclusive story (though I missed that the "Abide With Me" moment was adressed specifically at 7/7 victims, and not absent friends in general).

On Saturday I travelled back to Glasgow from Southampton, which I can recommend to anyone looking for a stress free airport in the South - it's small enough to have one departures hall, the Costa is well situated, and there was just no fuss about the trip at all.

Arriving back in Glasgow I did have a bit of confusion about my shuttle bus back to the car, enough to make me change my plans about going to Glasgow and head straight up to Argyll. And then I gave up.

In theory I should be finishing my contract on Thursday, but there have been more behind-the-schemes manoeuvrings, and it looks like it will be extended through August, and there may be an offer of a full time role in the wings. We'll see.

I'd like some kind of certainty around this (which is maybe a sign that I'm ready for that full time job), but in the meantime I'll do the commute from Glasgow, try to stash some cash, and get on with enjoying life. And there's a lot to enjoy right now, so I'd better get out of bed...
