As predicted, I stayed up to listen to Andy Murray win the US Open (to watch it I'd have to have Sky TV, and I won't have that malignant bastard's presence in my house). Which was wonderful, and nationally cathartic, but it also was, mostly, late. I got to bed around 2.30, and set my alarm for something after 7, instead of the 6 I needed to be up by if I wanted to go to the gym.
"No worries," I thought, I'm going to Yoga at 7, and that will count. Except that despite leaving work early, I didn't fight through the traffic to home until after 7.
I can read my own omens, and I gave up on exercise. I also thought I'd given up on seeing Phil Campbell's new band, The Temperance Movement. Apparently I'm made of sterner stuff, though, and I made it to Nice and Sleazy at 10.15, just as he came on stage.
It was a storming set. Quite early on I felt a vibration in my chest, which I put down to the very, very loud noise. But no. It was actually Phil's voice, insinuating itself into my iPhone, riffling through my contacts and sending dirty snap shots of himself to any women he found there. Yes, his voice is that lecherous.
But, still, I'm 4 for 5, which puts me into recovery mode. I'm going to try to get to the gym twice tomorrow, so I'd better turn off the light now. Which is a pity, since I'm in the mood to ruminate.
Sleep well, y'all.
