Golf Season

f4f3Played golf tonight for the first time, in, um, can't remember. 10 holes with my pal Paul, who plays of half my handicap - 12 to my 24. Thanks to the handicap, though, I managed to win. This is part of my preparation for playing as a guest at a tournament at my Dad's club. I played last year, and didn't love it. The round took about 5 hours, and we were paired with a couple of bores. And it rained. And I played crap.
This weekend, though, by a complete fluke, my Dad and I are paired with his two brothers. The younger of my uncles is almost 60, so I should have a chance. Needless to say, the actual competition will pale into insignificance beside the family feud - whoever wins will have bragging rights until the next family get together.
I've already managed to handicap myself, though. We've got a tee-off time of 08:40. Normally I prefer to play early, but on Friday night I'll be going out for drinks with people from work. This may well turn into a drunken rabble. It's not out of the question that night clubs might get involved. To get to my dad's club on the south side, after having some breakfast and walking the dog, I'll need to be up around 7.00 on Saturday morning.
Maybe I'll just go straight from the night out...
