An interesting piece by Hugh MacDonald in today's Herald, which sums up some of my own thinking about Andy Murray at Wimbledon this year.

I had a hearty chuckle at this quote:

"Murray has been shamefully portrayed as a dour Scot in newspapers that regularly and properly rail against racist stereotyping. He is always moaning, they say. The reality is he does not whinge at outside factors. He reserves the strongest criticism for himself.

The same newspapers then swivel on an axis to criticise Murray for being too self-confident. He is too sunny about his prospects, they claim. So now we have a dour, pessimistic Scot with a bright-eyed, hopelessly romantic view of his future."

I hear that one a lot...
