Friday came quickly this week, and then Monday came quicker still.
Friday night I met up with Unblinkered and helped Cafe Sith's balance of payments by buying Tigana (which I haven't read in years, partly because it's a sad book) and a Denise Minah hardback for a pound each, and a black shirt and tie for a tenner (reduced from £20). If any Glasgow folk haven't made it to Cafe Sith yet, then go. It's pretty near Partick Underground and train stations.

We headed off for mystery Chinese, and this time managed to describe the un-named dishes to get exactly what we wanted, as well as getting a pot of tea to drink while we wanted. I'd turned down a boys night out for this, and it was well worth it. We caught up with Season Three of Heroes over dinner, and were well satisfied with both.

On Saturday morning I went off to play golf with my friend Paul, who has developed an annoying habit of beating me on the last hole, this time with a 20ft putt from off the back of the green. Swine.

Afterwards unblinkered and I headed off to Ikea for dinner (my idea) and picked up some candlesticks and candles, and accompaniements for goose. Saturday night was very chilled, with 4 episodes of House and a relatively early night.

On Sunday James come round and dropped off our Martinmass Goose. All 5 kilos of it. The rest of the day involved goose-themed activity, as unblinkered cooked and I pottered, mostly keeping her company in the kitchen and lending a hand when the goose needed turned or sauces needed stirred.

We started dinner with pancake soup - a Swabian speciality, beef consume with chopped German pancakes Yum. The goose, cooked, was magnificent. I've had it a couple of times before, normally at Christmas, but this was in a different class. It took around 5 hours to roast, and it was served with dumplings, sauce, red cabbage, almond bacon and onion stuffing, and lots of chilled German red. Cheeses, an hour or so later, were served with oatcakes and Italian crackers. We finally repaired for drams or tea to the lounge, and lots of good chat.

I had my final set of fillings at the dentist this morning, so I didn't have to get up too early. No hangover, not even tired, and I had a reasonable appetitie for work today, so it's a pity it was so bitty and frustrating.

I was tired by 4, though, heavy legs and a bubbling cough, so I came straight home and sorted out some bills, and tried to sort out BT. I should have known  better.

I've packed a bag for the gym tomorrow, and I'll try to make sure it happens.

I've a whisky sampling lined up for Thursday, and then it will be the weekend again. I seriously need to get my arse in gear, or Christmas is going to take me by surprise...
