"With the Radio On. Radio On."
Nov. 21st, 2008 11:20 amInspired by
pshtaku 's google map of her 'Merkin adventures, I've tried to do the same for my two main American road-trips.
The first was from San Francisco to Detroit. Car from SF to Vegas (via San Luis Obisbo and Santa Barbra) then Amtrak to Ann Arbor via Chicago, then open top convertible to Detroit airport. Highlights included:
Driving across the Golden Gate, Homecoming night in SLO, driving across the desert and Vegas rising out of the dark, while Sympathy for the Devil played on the car radio, the three days on the train, Bill meeting me at about one in the morning at the Ann Arbor train station, and us walking back to his flat through streets shrouded in after-rain mists, the tallest building in the world, being groped by my colleagues best friend, who was driving me at the time, July the 4th in Ann Arbor, and the ride out to my flight home.
The other is my somewhat eccentric progress through Florida, which took in Spanish Forts and Miami Beach, a wedding at Disneyland and Hemmingway's house in Key West, NASA and the Everglades.
Oh, better post the link...
