So much has gone well this weekend, that it seems churlish to record my woes, but I will anyway, after recording the "Oh!"s.
Had an excellent night out in the Bon celebrating [livejournal.com profile] zantic  's birthday. As [livejournal.com profile] psychochicken  pointed out, it's not my sort of place - it's very much a very good beer drinker's pub, and I don't touch the stuff (on which more later) but it has several factors which mean that when I do go, my front  there I enjoy it. First of all, the company - I always go there to meet people I want to be with. So that's a pretty good start. Secondly, it's a pub that welcomes its regulars - a dozen of us were given a free drink on Friday night to celebrate New Year. Thirdly, it's a good whisky pub, and if I'm in the mood for whisky, there's few better places in Glasgow to enjoy that (except, some might say my front room). They also sell Crabbie's Ginger Beer, which is an alcoholic (4% abv) version of one of my favourite soft drinks. So I can honestly say that I was drinking beer on Friday. But mostly I drank wine.

On Saturday we had a pretty leisurely start to the day, and left for the cottage about 2pm. We stopped off at the Oyster Bar for supplies, and my beard was generally welcomed as A Good Thing. So it has survived the weekend. We were joined for dinner by Mike and Marie, two friends from the East Coast who had driven for 3 hours just to have dinner with us. I like that. [livejournal.com profile] unblinkered  made a lovely meal with duck breasts, and much wine was sunk, and a dram or two afterwards. Marie is a kindred spirit from way back, and we had the odd stab at setting the world to rights between discussing why Humpty Gokart was so excellent. The evening finished half way through "The Big Sleep".

We had an equally laid back morning, and then took them up to Kilmartin Glen for a walk with Merlin, before sending them on their way East. I'll be attending a new coaching weekend that Marie is running next weekend in Aberfeldy, and she had some interesting things to say about running one in Argyll in the future.

We've been chilling for the last couple of hours, and we'll probably head back to Glasgow about five. So, all in all, a great weekend.

Complaints are minor. Work is being very busy, and not a great deal of fun. Although they do pay me. I'm also a bit frustrated that although I make a great deal of money, there doesn't seem to be any left over for fun stuff, like holidays.

Also, I'm not 100% health-wise. I had a chesty cough for about six weeks or so before Christmas, and it's come back with a vengeance over the last couple of weeks. Bad enough that I think I will try to see the doctor about it. Which is something I never do.
